Hillel Student Life * Kesher * KOACH * Project CHANGE
Candidates
for all positions in any of the above RSOs should fill out the candidate
application form (below) by Wednesday, November 9, 2011. All candidates for president must meet with a
member of the KC Staff prior to elections.
All candidates will deliver at 2 minute speech at the elections. Candidates need not be present to run, but
must have a representative deliver a speech on their behalf at the
elections. All candidates must be
students enrolled in the University of Delaware in good academic standing. In contested elections, candidates who do not
win the position may drop down to run for another position in such a case
the candidate will state their qualifications for the new position, rather than
giving a formal speech.
In
addition to the responsibilities listed below, all board members of KC RSOs are
expected to adhere to the Kristol Hillel Center Student Board Leadership
Agreement. All board members will assist
with preparation, setup, and clean up for Shabbat dinners, attend monthly
Leadership Workshops (in addition to weekly board meetings), and a
Leadership Retreat. All board members recognize that they are the
face of the Jewish community on campus and will support the greater goals of
the Jewish community on campus.

While each member of the HSL board has their own distinct position, HSL prides itself on the cooperative manner in which all board members participate in the planning and execution of their events.
President The President serves as a public voice for Hillel,
the Kristol Center and will be a liaison to and attend meetings for the Board
of Directors of the Kristol Center. The President will prepare the
agendas and conduct student board meetings; set goals and objectives for each
semester to be presented to the Board at the beginning of each semester; assist
in planning of all Hillel Student Life programs; and prepare and conduct
leadership development exercises at Executive Board meetings. The President also serves as a liaison
between Hillel Student Life and the Kristol Center for Jewish Life, the
Activities and Programs Office and other campus organizations to create
partnerships for HSL programming and initiatives. The President shall be responsible for the
registration of the Registered Student Organization and all required paperwork
for the continuation of the organization (including Start-of-the-Year,
Mid-Year and End-of-the-Year packets.) The
President is the direct supervisor of Treasurer, Communications Coordinator,
Vice President and any special committees as they arise. The President also serves as the Conductor of
Elections in the year following their term.
Vice President The Vice President will create and maintain an
engagement and retention program; serve as a public voice for Hillel; and supervise
any special committees that arise. The
Vice President is responsible for assisting in planning all Hillel Student Life
programs and serves as a liaison between Hillel Student Life and other organizations
on campus. The Vice President will
assist in the supervision, training, and evaluation, of the Program
Coordinators, and will work with program chairs to secure program grants
(through UD, Hillel and other sources)
Program Coordinators (2) The Program Coordinators work with Kristol Center
staff and interns to promote and coordinate HSL programs; work with other
campus groups to create co-sponsorships for Hillel Student Life programs and
initiatives and serve as liaisons between Hillel Student Life and other
organizations on campus. The Program
Coordinators will follow up with program chairs after board meetings, and meet
with program chairs who cannot attend such meetings to assist in program
planning. The Program Coordinators are
responsible for reserving rooms, buses, kiosks, fields, etc. on campus and
maintaining contact with off-campus vendors for programs and identifying and
contacting students to be program chairs and to help with programs.
Communications Coordinator - The Communications Coordinator serves as a public
voice for Hillel Student Life and as a liaison between Hillel Student Life and
other campus organizations on campus.
The Communications Coordinator will take minutes at all Hillel Student
Life Board Meetings and distribute copies to all board members and Kristol
Center staff members within 3 days of that meeting. The Communications Coordinator is responsible
for all outside correspondence on behalf of the Hillel Student Life board
(thank-you notes, invitations, letters, applications, Facebook groups,
etc.) and will assist in the planning of all Hillel Student Life
programs. The Communications coordinator
will submit all programs to the campus events web page of the University; oversee
upkeep of the Hillel website and is responsible for creation (with the Kristol
Center Graphic Design Intern), duplication, and posting of flyers, posters, and
any other publicity and will maintain contact with campus and other media and
invite them to appropriate Hillel Student Life programs.
Treasurer
The Treasurer will work with all board members, Hillel professional staff to write
a budget for each semester and work with the program chairs to ensure money is
collected at all events for which there is a charge. The Treasurer maintains the budget throughout
the semester and works with the Activities & Programs Office to keep the
financial books in working order; submits budget requests to the university by
policy deadline. The Treasurer will also
work with program chairs and other board members to secure program grants
(through UD, Hillel or other sources).
The treasurer also assists in the planning and implementation of all
Hillel Student Life programs and helps to identify and contact students to help
with program planning.
Secretary
The Secretary
shall keep minutes of all HSL board meetings and distribute them to all HSL board members within 35 - 48 hours of the meeting.
The Secretary will also keep a historical record of all HSL events,
including copies of flyers or grant forms, as applicable. Also the secretary
should create a scrapbook from all of the events throughout the term. The
Secretary shall maintain contact with the Web Team of the Kristol Center for
Jewish Life to develop and update the HSL webpage.
Kesher
President - The President
shall serve as a public voice for Reform Jewish students on campus and as a
liason between Kesher, the Kristol Center for Jewish life and other student
groups on campus. The president will
also assist in the planning and execution of all Kesher programming; supervise
any special committees that arise; prepare agendas and conduct student board
meetings; and help to identify and contact students to be program chairs and
help plan programs. The President shall be responsible for the registration of
the Registered Student Organization and all required paperwork for the
continuation of the organization (including Start-of-the-Year, Mid-Year and
End-of-the-Year packets.) The President will receive all information from
the Activities and Programs Office. The
President also serves as the Conductor of Elections in the year following their
term.
Vice President -
The Vice President will assist the President with her/his duties and with the
planning and execution of all Kesher programs.
The Vice President will also work with the Kristol Center staff,
including but not limited to the Communications Intern and Graphic Design
Intern, to promote and coordinate all Kesher programs. The Vice President serves as the direct
contact to all program chairs in regards to Kesher programs and works with the
program chairs to secure program chairs to secure program grants (through UD,
the Kristol Center and other sources).
The Vice President is also responsible for reserving rooms, busses,

The Treasurer is responsible for all group expenditures and revenues, and shall
have all checks signed by the Office of Activities and Programs written by the
organization for the purpose of the organization and maintain al group ledgers.
The Treasurer is also responsible for requesting funds from the allocation
board and will have checks co-signed by the appropriate administrator. The Treasurer will maintain the budget
throughout the semester, work with the Activities & Programs Office to keep
the financial books in working order and submit budget requests to the
university by policy deadline. The
Treasurer serves as the Conductor of Elections (in the year following your
term) if the President is not available.
Communication Chair The Communication Chair keeps minutes of all Kesher board meetings
and sends these minutes to all Kesher officers and appropriate Kristol Center
Staff within 72 hours of the meeting. The Communication Chair also keeps
records of past events, including budgets (from the treasurer), maintains the
Kesher website, sends emails to Kesher contact list, create(s) (when necessary)
and keeps track of Facebook groups and events and makes sure Graphic Design
intern and Communications Intern have information about upcoming events at
least 3 weeks before the event.
Religious Chair The Religious Chair will oversee all Reform religious observances
including, but not limited to Shabbat Services, High Holiday Services, and
Passover events. The Religious Chair is
responsible for running Judaic programs, and the Jewish content of all Kesher
programs and will assist in publicizing all
events. The Religious Chair will work
with the Rabbinic Intern, Senior Jewish Educator and other Kristol Center staff
for assistance with integrating Jewish content into events.
Programming Chair -The Program Chair will
develop all of Keshers social programs with the assistance of other Kesher
board members and keep an updated and accurate calendar of events. The Program Chair will contact other RSOs for
co-sponsorship of events and is responsible for publicizing all events.
Tzedek Chair
The Tzedek Chair
shall be responsible for creating, publicizing, and running community service
programming on the behalf of Kesher. The
Tzedek Chair shall also attempt to include community service/tikkun olam
principles in other, otherwise unrelated Kesher programming.
KOACH
President The President has the duties of calling and running
meetings and handling day-to-day affairs. The President shall be responsible
for the registration of the Registered Student Organization and all required
paperwork for the continuation of the organization. The President will be
responsible for all correspondence with the Activities and Programs
Office. The President will help to
appoint all standing and special committees, and will work with all other board
members to keep the organization running smoothly. This includes working with
the Programming Chairs (Tzedek Chair, Social Chair, and
Freshman Class Representative) to create quality programming as well as
overseeing the secretary, Member at Large, Treasurer and Communications Chair.
Member at Large
- The Member at
Large shall serve the role of President if the President is absent or unable to
serve the duties of President. In
addition the Member at Large is responsible for support to the social chair and
communication chair through planning programs, advertising them, and engaging
the Conservative Jewish community on campus. The focus on outreach includes
engaging both unaffiliated and active members of KOACH.
Treasurer
- The Treasurer
shall be responsible for all group expenditures and revenues. The Treasurer
shall sign any checks written by the organization for the purpose of the
organization and maintain all group ledgers. The treasurer shall also be
responsible for requesting funds from the allocation board, and any other
relevant grants.
Secretary
The Secretary
shall keep minutes of all KOACH board meetings and distribute them to all KOACH
board members within 36-48 hours of the meeting.
The Secretary will also keep a historical record of all KOACH events,
including copies of flyers or grant forms, as applicable. Also the secretary
should create a scrapbook from all of the events throughout the term. The
Secretary shall maintain contact with the Web Team of the Kristol Center for
Jewish Life to develop and update the KOACH webpage.
Religious Chair
The Religious
chair shall be responsible for Educational, Holiday, and Shabbat programming.
This includes creating, publicizing, and running programming of an educational
nature, as well as Jewish holiday observances. In addition to overseeing weekly
Conservative Shabbat services every Friday night that the University is in
session, during the Fall and Spring semesters, as well as creating and
publicizing any other Shabbat programming.
Tzedek Chair
The Tzedek Chair
shall be responsible for creating, publicizing, and running community service
programming on the behalf of KOACH. The
Tzedek Chair shall also attempt to include community service/tikkun olam
principles in other, otherwise unrelated KOACH programming.
Social Chair
- The Social Chair
shall be responsible for creating, publicizing, and running programming of a
social and communal nature on the behalf of KOACH.
Communication
Chair- The
Communication Chair shall be responsible for publicizing all events through
every outlet possible. They will be in charge of filling out flyer request
forms, copying flyers, quarter flyers and getting the flyers stamped by student
life located in Trabant as well as the stamp for residents halls located on
Courtney Street. In addition the Communication chair is in charge of
administering the flyers to board members so that flyers will be placed all
around campus. They will maintain the membership list and e-mail list of the
organization, and will be responsible for creating the KOACH Facebook events as
well as maintaining the Facebook group.
Project CHANGE
President - This organization shall have a
President with the duties of calling and running meetings and handling
day-to-day affairs. The President shall be responsible for the registration of
the Registered Student Organization and all required paperwork for the
continuation of the organization (including Start-of-the-Year, Mid-Year and
End-of-the-Year packets.) The President will receive all information from
the Activities and Programs Office from an undisclosed email database. The
president will help to appoint all standing and special committees. To be
eligible for the office of President, a student must have already been on the
executive board for a semester within the past calendar year.
Vice-President - The Vice-President shall work
closely with the President to fulfill the duties as described above. The
Vice-President will also serve the role of President if the President is
absent, unable to serve the duties, or if the President resigns. The Vice
President should also be responsible for checking the organizations mailbox and
for disseminating information about other activities offered by the other
Registered Student Organizations and business promotions.
Treasurer - The Treasurer shall be
responsible for all group expenditures and revenues. The Treasurer shall write
all checks and have all checks signed by the Activities and Programs staff for
the purpose of the organization. The treasurer will also maintain all group
ledgers. The treasurer should also be responsible for requesting funds from the
allocation board.
Secretary - The Secretary shall record the
events of all meetings of this organization and shall maintain minutes of those
meetings. The secretary shall take attendance of those present at group
meetings as necessary. You may want to have the Secretary serve as the
organizations historian with the goal of being able to pass on accurate records
of what the groups has done over the past year and who was involved. The
Secretary should also maintain the membership list and email database.
Public
Relations Chair -
The Public Relations Chair shall be responsible for promotion of the group and
their events. This would include making posters, flyers, and brochures,
updating the web page information, entering information on to the University
Events web page, submitting press releases to the appropriate media, and
ensuring the group is represented at events designed to help promote the
organization and build membership.
Programming Chair The Programming Chair shall be
responsible for assigning responsibilities to members regarding the planning of
each event. This includes overseeing the
actions and progress of members within their event committees, making sure that
special needs, including transportation to and from events, are met.
Engagement Chair The Engagement Chairperson shall be responsible for
outreach and engagement of current and new members of Project CHANGE.
This includes, but is not limited to, replying enthusiastically to any student
who contacts Project CHANGE expressing interest in our activities, initiating
and maintaining follow-up contact with students who attend our group meetings,
events, and volunteer trips, and making an effort to talk to and get to know
new faces at our group meetings, events, and volunteer trips. The purpose
of the Engagement Chairperson is to facilitate the development and growth of
Project CHANGE's general membership.
