“Freshmen Fest gave me a chance to get to know my school and to meet so many amazing lifelong friends along the way! It was such a comfortable transition to college and I cant thank freshman fest enough for all the opportunities it gave me!“- Ashley Cohen '21
“Being a Freshmen Fest leader was one of the best decisions I made in college. I made some amazing new friends throughout the process. I also loved knowing I was making an impact on the freshman, and watch them create friendships with each other. It was such a meaningful experience, one that I will never forget!” -Alexa Kamberg '20
“Freshmen Fest made me feel so welcomed into Delaware. I was so scared coming in that I wasn't going to make friends or become really home sick. I ended up making some of my best friends through freshman fest and had an amazing time! It was an amazing experience for me and made me less stressed out in this new environment.”

For the 18th consecutive year, UD Hillel, in conjunction with the Jewish Studies Department, Chabad on Campus and the entire UD Jewish community, is excited to offer a program for all incoming Jewish students. Freshmen Fest is 1.5 days of fun and games with other incoming Jewish students. Over the past 18 years students have met their best friends on campus at Freshmen Fest…and all before the first day of classes even begins.
Our goal is to ensure that you begin your life at UD with an advantage that most other incoming students don’t have. By moving in two days before anyone else, you will get to meet over 200 UD students right from the start. You will also be more familiar with the campus than the average freshman. Seeing familiar and friendly faces throughout your first weeks will truly make you feel at home. Plus, you’ll be moved into your room early, which means no crowds and no hassles.
It’s not only freshmen who you will be meeting; we have upperclassmen who return to be group leaders and serve on the logistics team and as the Executive Committee for Freshmen Fest. They know it all, and are involved in activities all over campus. Go ahead, ask them what’s up; they're happy to talk with you.
The fee for Freshmen Fest is $118. This covers all meals and programs during the event. The University will also assess an early move in fee of $25 a night to your housing bill. Be sure to request an early check-in through My Housing Portal. If you have questions, email or call the Kristol Hillel Center.
