WHY #BLUEHENBIRTHRIGHTISRAEL?

My #BlueHenBirthrightIsrael experience was unbelievable. For someone relatively new to discovering their Judaism, I benefitted from this trip in every way possible. Not only did I discover how I personally connect to Judaism, but I was able to experience my Hebrew naming ceremony on top of Masada, and become a Batmitzvah in the holy city of Jerusalem: acts that my ancestors could only dream of. I gained so much perspective on what it means to be Jewish.

Looking back on my Birthright experience I am overwhelmed with happy memories. It is hard to pin point an exact moment or memory I love because there are simply too many. I went onto birthright with a friend but walked away with an abundance of new friendships with incredible people including a transfer student who I would not have met if not for birthright. She is now after only ten days in Israel together one of my best friends.  I found a love and appreciation for Israel and the people there that I did not expect to.

If you are Jewish, between the ages of 18 and 26, and haven't been to Israel on an organized trip since age 18, you can claim your birthright!

Taglit-Birthright Israel is an innovative partnership between the people of Israel through the Government of Israel, private philanthropists through the Birthright Israel Foundation and Jewish communities around the world (North American Jewish Federations, Keren Hayesod, and the Jewish Agency for Israel).

There are so many words to describe #bluehenbirthrightisrael. Inspiring, powerful, joyous, and an opportunity of a lifetime. I spent two weeks with some of my best friends, eating incredible foods, and touring vibrant cities all over Israel. Not only did I spend time learning about Israel, but I learned about myself as well. I tell anyone and everyone if you have the chance to go, TAKE IT. There is absolutely nothing like it.
