About Us

What Do
We Do

Grant Hillel at UD works to help students create meaningful Jewish experiences to grow personally, professionally, and Jewishly.

Why We
Do It

We as Hillel professionals believe that every student has a story and a journey. We are here to support them throughout their college journey in whatever ways we can to help them become who they want to be.

Our History

There has been a Hillel group on the University of Delaware campus since 1948. For more than 50 years, we were housed in many different spaces, but in 1993 we were finally given a home of our own through the generosity of many local benefactors. Named for Abe & Pearl Kristol, who were instrumental in our acquiring this property, the Kristol Center for Jewish Life is located one block from Trabant University Center, one block from Main Street, and in easy walking distance of the entire campus.  Then, in October of 2025, we broke ground on the building that will become home for the next generation - The Grant Hillel at UD Kristol Center for Jewish Life.  The building, which will be built on the same site as our current space, will more than triple our footprint to 18,000sqf, with two floors, and a commerical grade Kosher Kitchen.

During construction, we can be found at our temporary location on 4 Choate St.

Our Current Home

With 2250 Jewish students on campus - 13% of the undergraduate population - our Hillel Foundation works hard to pave the way for students to have meaningful Jewish experiences.

Students connect to their identities in many different ways. That's why we offer so many different ways to connect with their Jewish selves!

With so many influences to their lives, students need to be part of a community with whom they share values and experiences. Our Hillel Foundation makes sure that the community is here.
