Josh Kleinman's Senior Story

I grew up in a Reform Jewish household near New York, went to sleepaway camp, and felt very connected to the Jewish community as a kid.

However, I got to Delaware and felt instantly disconnected. I wasn't surrounded by Jewish individuals, and it wasn't as easy to be Jewish as at home. I wanted to change that, so I got involved with Hillel.

My sophomore year, I was selected for an internship with the David Project (an Israel advocacy organization) and it changed my college career. I was teamed up with five Jewish students, who I connected with immediately, and they became my new Jewish family on campus. Even today they are some of my closest friends.

This past winter, I went on Birthright to Israel and am now working on the senior committee to give back to Hillel, which has done so much for me over my four years here. I had to search to find my Jewish community on campus, and Hillel gave me the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals. I'm forever grateful for the opportunities and friendships it has provided to me, and I hope you'll join and support me in making a gift today.
